Webex Bot Setup

Follow these to set up Webex bots for your Recall account.

Prerequisite: Webex Meet Account

In order to create a Service App, you'll need a Webex Meet account.

Webex Free accounts will not work.

For non-US users, the plans may be named slightly differently. The minimum required plan is the lowest paid tier.

Setup Guide

  1. Go to https://developer.webex.com/ and sign in

  2. In the top right, click on your profile icon and then on My Webex Apps

  3. Select Service App

    1. Add an App Name
    2. 📘

      The Service App name will be the bot name visible to your users

    3. Give your app a description, icon, and contact email
    4. Select the scopes
      1. Guest-issuer:write
      2. Guest-issuer:read
  4. Click Add Service App to create it

  5. Copy

    1. Client ID
    2. Client Secret
    3. App ID
  6. Copy your Webex Org ID

Add Service App to Your Webex Organization

Before you can begin using your new Webex service app, you first need to authorize the app to your Webex Organization

  1. Go to [https://admin.webex.com/ and sign in
  2. Go to Control Hub
  3. Go to Apps / Service Apps
  4. Find your Service App

      The search feature is not by name but by ID, so it's typically best to scroll to find your app

  5. Click Authorize and Save

Connect Recall.ai to Your Service App

View the Webex setup dashboard

  1. Enter your credentials

    1. Service App Client ID
    2. Service App Client Secret
    3. Service App App ID
    4. Webex Org ID
  2. Click Create Configuration

    1. You will need to login to your webex account
    2. Authorize the Recall.ai integration to connect to your Service App
  3. You should see the integration listed as AUTHORIZED


Setup complete

You can now start creating Webex bots 🎉

Try it out by sending your first bot to a Webex call using the Create Bot endpoint.


Common Gotchas

  1. "The application id is not authorized for the targetOrg"
    1. Make sure that you've added the Service App to your organization and clicked Save
  2. I can't find the Service App listed in Apps
    1. Make sure that the Service App has been created and that you've clicked Add Service App
    2. When adding the Service App to your organization, make sure that you're not searching by name
