Slack Huddle Bots Overview
This section covers everything you need to know about Recall.ai’s Slack integration, from setting up the Slack user email to capturing Slack Huddle data with bots.
Slack Huddle Bot Behavior
The Slack huddle bot works fundamentally differently than our other bots (Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc). Instead of joining meetings via a URL, the Slack huddle bot needs to be invited to join your customer's Slack workspace. Once the bot has entered your customer's workspace, it will automatically join and record any huddles that happen within the workspace.
Choosing Which Huddles to Join
The Slack huddle bot is capable of joining most huddles automatically. However, some customers may only want the bot to join huddles if it's being invited. Recall supports a variety of configuration options to determine how your bot will join huddles. Below are the different options supported by the bot:
- Automatically Join Huddles (Public Channels)
- Automatically Join Huddles (Private Channels)
- Manually invite bot to join (Public Channels)
- Manually invite bot to join (Private Channels)
- Manually invite bot to Join Private Huddles (Between Workspace Users)
By default, the Slack huddle bot will not be able to automatically request to join private huddles in channels where it is not a member, or in private huddles between workspace users. To allow the bot to do this, you'll need to set up a Slack app. See our guide to setting up private channel support for more information.
Limitations
- Slack huddle bots can only join SSO-enabled workspaces as guests
- Slack Enterprise is currently not supported
